Terms of Service

Last updated 30 October 2026

These terms govern your company's use of Battery Enlighta at batteryenlighta.com. By creating an account you accept them on behalf of your company.

1. The service

Battery Enlighta, operated by [Company legal name] (“we”), helps battery producers, vehicle makers, service centres, recyclers and authorities issue Battery Pack Aadhaar Numbers (BPANs), keep battery lifecycle records, and publish EU battery passports.

2. Regulatory status

India’s Battery Pack Aadhaar is a draft guideline, not a notified standard. BPANs issued now follow the draft and may need to be re-issued if the final standard differs.

The service provides tools to meet the EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The economic operator placing a battery on the market stays responsible for its passport and for the accuracy of its contents. Using the service does not by itself make a battery compliant.

3. Accounts

  • You must give accurate company details and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account and your API keys.
  • Company admins decide who in the company has access and with which role.
  • Tell us at [email] straight away if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Your data

  • You keep ownership of the data you and your suppliers put into the service.
  • You are responsible for its accuracy and for having the right to share it, including data you grant other companies access to.
  • The public tier of each passport is published openly, as EU law requires. Do not put confidential or personal information in public fields.
  • You allow us to store, process, sign and publish your data as needed to run the service and to meet legal duties to keep passports available.

5. Acceptable use

  • No false or misleading battery data, and no codes or passports for batteries that don’t exist.
  • No attempts to access data your company has not been granted, or to disrupt the service.
  • API use must stay within reasonable limits; we may throttle traffic that harms the service.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted. We keep backups and will give notice of planned maintenance where we can. Government portals and registries that the service connects to are outside our control.

7. Fees

[Pricing and payment terms, or: The service is currently provided free of charge during its pilot period.]

8. Intellectual property

The software, design and brand of Battery Enlighta belong to us. These terms give your company a right to use the service, not ownership of it.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by inaccurate data entered by users or their suppliers. Our total liability is limited to [amount, e.g. the fees paid in the 12 months before the claim].

10. Ending the service

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, with notice where possible. Passport records may be kept after closure where the law requires them to remain available.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at [city] have exclusive jurisdiction.

12. Changes and contact

We will post changes here and email account holders before significant changes take effect. Questions: [email], [address].
